Thesis Title: Ethnomusicology in cyberspace: creation and dissemination process in amateur video clips

About

I am currently Assistant Professor of Music at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), Bahia, Brazil and is engaged in research projects at Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and in collaboration with scholars at the University of Toronto and York University (Canada).
I completed my doctoral degree in Ethnomusicology in 2010 at the UFBA, with a  (2008) "sandwich" year in Portugal at the New University of Lisbon (UNL).
My thesis discusses the creation and dissemination of amateur video clips on YouTube. Case studies are analyzed for innovations, idiosyncrasies, and confluences of behavior with particular attention to the motivations of video producers and the ways that they utilize audiovisual material. Also explored are the different relationships formed through various processes of video creation and distribution.
